Susy Rottonara is a multi- award winning music artist born in Milan. Soprano, pianist, composer of experimental music with Master’s degree in piano and singing at the Conservatory of Music of Trento and Master’s degree cum laude in Foreign languages and literature at the University of Trento.


She has performed on international level and has won awards especially for her multimedia productions about the Ladin legends of the Dolomites mountains. She is author of cultural events, concerts and experimental multimedia projects of music, art and literature.  In 2019 she was awarded for her composition "Dolasila’s Love," for “Outstanding Achievement – Silver Medal Winner” at the Global Music Awards, both as a soprano and for contemporary opera. Her album DREAMING OF FANES, is the first album ever sung in the Ladin language, the most ancient alpine language still spoken today,. This album was entered into the Grammy® Awards in 2011.


She has recorded many productions for television and Radio Ladina of Bolzano, Italy. She's an author, co-author of the screenplay, and leading actress in the role of the protagonist princess Dolasila, who she binds her artistic image to, composer of the original music and soprano soloist in films and multimedia music productions about the famous Legend of the Reign of Fanes. Composer of the original music and soprano soloist of the experimental opera Fanes Poem Musical – The musical poem of the Dolomites, composed in 2009 on occasion of the declaration of the Dolomites “World Natural Heritage” by the UNESCO and performed in 2011 with the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana, winner in the category “music production” at the „Women and Minorities in media Festival“ 2012 at the Towson University College of Fine Arts and Communication -Maryland.


In 2013 she performed in her multimedia Installation Dolasila in the MART Museum of contemporary art and in the Museum-Foundation Matalon in Milan, in 2014 in the Italian Cultural Institute in Malta. In 2014 she was cultural ambassador of South Tyrol at the Task Force Cross Border Culture in Belgium with a performance from Fanes Poem Musical. In 2015 she sings in the video We are love – 900 voices by Grammy Award winning artist Laura Sullivan. She has performed her music with musicians on international level and accompanied by musicians from the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala di Milano and from the Orchestra della RAI. In 2016 she has sung her music of her multimedia production Il sogno di Dolasila -The dream of Dolasila with Orchestra Kleutrom conducted by M°Davide Lorenzato in the main theatres of South Tyrol and in the Teatro Filodrammatici in Milan. In 2017 a video installation from Il sogno di Dolasila has partecipated at the art exhibition Energia creativa –tra astrazione e figurazione in the context of 57. Biennale d’arte di Venezia at Palazzo Albrizzi.


Since 2012 she has been coordinator of the Office of Music Education at the Ladin Educational and Cultural Department of Bolzano. She is coordinator of the project of Wikipedia in Ladin language, completed in 2020. In 2020 she is a panelist as musician and expert in music education at the World Music Conference. Since 2006 she is President of the Cultural Association Fanes to promote and preserve the cultural heritage of the Ladin legends of the Dolomites.
