Richard Byford

We lovingly remember Richard Byford, a member of the IC, who passed in 2020. 

Singer, songwriter, poet, host, emcee and force to be reckoned with, Richard Byford was raised in England in 1945, but he made America his home for decades. For 30 years Richard Byford designed and booked entertainment packages and produced special events all across the US and Worldwide. In addition to being a performing artist and entertainer himself, he produced/managed major Celebrity shows, special events and concerts from concept to performance. He was the in-house Entertainment Director at The Spotlight 29 Casino in California for almost 5 years. 

He partnered with Mary Avery in 1971, forming the Palm Springs based entertainment duo of "Richard and Mary", entertaining locally and around the world for 46 years. Mary and Richard married. 

Richard performed at Indie Collaborative showcases in Los Angeles, first on September 1, 2015 and then again on February 9, 2017, at Kulak's Woodshed in North Hollywood. By this time he had acquired an acoustic guitar that literally folded in half for easier traveling. He was a hit at both events, charming the crowd with his wit and passion for making the entertainment industry "green" among other causes.
