Madi Das
IC-AU-VIC-Melbourne
Madi Das was born in Germany to an American mother and Dutch father. But he grew up in the Vaishnava tradition of Bhakti Yoga. At age seven he attended a boarding school in India, where he spent eight years learning kirtans and bhajans, becoming fluent in Hindi, and making lifelong friends. He later lived in Ireland, where he was exposed to traditional Celtic music. Film school brought Madi to the USA, where he worked as an entertainment executive in Hollywood. In 2015 he and his family moved to to Australia. Living in Melbourne, he balances working in film production, spending time with his family, and sharing kirtan with his community.
His life experience embodies a world of music traditions, and he is at home in both the devotional world of ashrams and the promotional world of film studios. His debut album BHAKTI WITHOUT BORDERS earned rave critical reviews, and was nominated for a Grammy® award in 2015, Madi launched the kirtan album to raise funds and awareness for education for girls in India. The album’s production costs were paid for by an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. The sales generated $25,000 for Food For Life Vrindavan, supporting education for 45 girls in India. The album was produced by renowned kirtan artist Dave Stringer, and featured Madi singing duets with eleven female artists from all around the world. This album delighted audiences in 84 countries. Madi and his band performed it at Bhaktifest, and the Sydney Opera House.
"Allow the beautiful voice and transcendent music of Madi Das to transport you into the devotional heart of Lord Krishna. Buy this album and support the education of the young women in Vrindavan. Madi Das is an inspiration to us all."
