Music was once an impossible dream growing up in China’s culture of conformity and collectivism/lack of individuality. Fifi Rong has been through decades of internal and external struggles to free herself for a life in music. Today she’s living her purpose of bringing Chinese cultural heritage onto the world stage of pop music, whilst working towards her other dream: helping as many as other artists as she can, by making a comfortable living off their passion full time, using web3 tools.

Eccentric, deep and honest, Chinese-British vocalist, songwriter, and producer Fifi Rong brings pure emotional intimacy and open vulnerability into her distinctive sonic vision, subtly nuanced with a flair of her Chinese heritage. Through her songs she blends Alt Pop, Alt R&B, Electronica, Trip hop, IDM, Soundscape and UK Bass Music with her unmistakable vocals, bringing her into an elite league of paradigm-pushing, Avant-Pop artists.

Fifi Rong has collaborated with the likes of Skepta (on his hugely successful UK No. 2, Mercury Prize-winning album Konnichiwa) as well as Tricky, Yello on their chart-topping albums Point and Toy, as well as Phaeleh and Emika. The songstress has racked up over 3.2 million plays across major streaming platforms and received previous support from The Guardian, The Times, NME, FACT Mag, The Irish Times, Dancing Astronaut, Earmilk, Wonderland, CLASH Magazine, Complex, BlackBook Magazine, FLAUNT, XLR8R and The Line of Best Fit to name a few.

In her upcoming self-produced double album, There Is A Funeral In My Heart For Every Man I Loved, the artist has found inspiration in new forms - from the undeniable stylings of modern music to her own complex cultural heritage and the texture of Wong Kar Wai's movies. In turn, her own sound can be associated with the likes of Bjork, Cocteau Twins’ Elizabeth Fraser, FKA Twigs, ANOHNI and Massive Attack as she displays contemporary ballads with atmospheric production.

The Beijing-born, London-based singer is deeply involved Yi Jing 意境 Live Performance Series, which is designed to bring the worlds of online concerts, short films, and performance/sonic/visual art all into one reality. The artist has also begun to release her work as music and multimedia NFTs, marking herself as one of the forerunners in the exciting field.

Recently, Fifi has begun to speak out about her journey and shares the deeply intimate story of her life, revealing the tumultuous path she’s walked to achieve her dream.
