Claudia Robin Gunn brings the starry-eyed wonder to kids music time with warm, indie-folk melodies and harmonies that capture the golden essence of childhood. She writes sweet smart songs for cool kind kids with her indie label Little Wild Music and alternative dance music with her band Substax. Her kids songs are loved and trusted by smart parents and bright eyed kids alike, like a warm hug in sound that sets imaginations free.

It all started when…

...her mum Denise would pull out the songbooks after dinner for band practise and gather in Claudia and her sisters Melissa and Pipiana to help sing a long with everything from Annie Lennox to Joni Mitchell, Carole King to Pat Benatar, Dolly Parton to Joan Armatrading, Melissa Etheridge to Tracey Chapman, and so many more. Or maybe it was something to do with the vinyl records her dad Moss would play, loud, while renovating their house at weekends, and the sound of The Beatles, Crowded House, Cream, Santana, Bob Dylan, Crosby Stills and Nash plus more would reverberate along with the noise of the hammer and tools.

Claudia Robin Gunn now brings the starry eyed wonder mixed with just little bit of mom rocker chic to kids music time as a mother herself, with warm, indie-folk melodies and jangly pop harmonies that capture the golden essence of childhood.

Her kids songs are loved and trusted by smart parents and bright eyed kids alike, like a warm hug in sound that sets imaginations free.

Claudia has released 3 family music albums, and a number of singles, and is currently recording 2 more concurrently at The Sound Room with producer Tom Fox, supported by Creative New Zealand and also continues to create new collaborations with fellow family music songwriters.

After a long hiatus, where they were only recording in rare moments of studio time, and banking numerous compositions for ‘one day’ when time allowed, she is also excited to be back releasing new music with her grown ups band Substax now too.

Living by the coast in Tāmaki Makaurau with her family, now teenagers, Claudia is inspired by her community, the natural wonders of the land and sea around her and the always evolving interests of her growing up children.
