Ben Parent

Guitarist/Vocalist Ben Parent is the founder and primary songwriter of The Rivergods, an award-winning band based in southeastern Connecticut. The Rivergods have played heartfelt, harmony-rich Folk/Root/Rock music since 1997. Ben founded Good Sponge Records, a small indie Americana/folk label. Ben helps produce and promote several CT music series, including Music in the Meadow, the Sinner's Circle, and Friday Night Folk. 

The Rivergods are fronted by husband and wife songwriters Ben and Nancy Parent, who often perform as a duo. Ben and Nancy have written and performed together for over 25 years and blend their voices with instinctual harmonies that are perhaps only achieved through blood, time, or marriage. The Rivergods’ full band includes a rotating lineup of southern New England's finest, most talented players, who round out the couple’s harmonious Americana sound. 

Good Sponge Records is a small, southern New England-based label that supports songwriters and artists, primarily in the Americana, folk, and blues rock genres. Since its founding in 2010, Good Sponge has released three compilations and dozens of albums. Ben also plays in Superbald, a rock trio based in southeastern Connecticut featuring Ben with longtime friends Trevor “T$” Chandonnait (drums) and Steve Elci (Bass/Vocals). Each member brings their unique distillation of impeccable riffs and rhythms, strong melodies, and fierce energy.
