Carla Patullo
IC-US-CA-LA-Westside
Carla Patullo is a composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles. She is best known for her music that blends lush acoustics with layered vocals and experimental electronics. Some of Carla’s recent scores include Niki Ang’s film "Maxine" starring Margaret Cho, a soon-to-be-released Disney+ film; Charlotte Hamblin’s "Everybody Dies Sometime," which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, "Magic Hour," an upcoming dramedy starring Miriam Shor; "My Name Is Maria De Jesus," an HBO Latino film; and "Porno," Fangoria’s recent SXSW hit.
As a multi-instrumentalist and singer, she fronted the Brooklyn-formed rock act White Widow, served as musical director for the legendary comedian Sandra Bernhard, and has shared the stage with Liza Minnelli, Rufus Wainwright, Grayson Hugh, and many more.
In 2020, Lakeshore Records released Carla’s Fangoria soundtrack, and the A. V. Club raved that Carla’s score is “one of the year’s best horror soundtracks ... a smoky and eerily playful blend of haunting vocalizations, hissing specters, and shadowy instrumentation.”
Carla is a Sundance Film Music and Sound Design Lab alumna, and four-time Hollywood Music in Media Award Nominee. This past year, because of Carla’s work related to animation pioneer Lotte Reiniger, two of Carla’s film scores were presented at The Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences Museum.
In addition to composing and performing, Carla is a prolific songwriter and has written over 100 songs with placements on film and TV shows, such as the Sundance award-winning film Spa Night, Teen Titans Go (Cartoon Network), The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Skins (UK), Sabrina the Teenage Witch, L.A. A Queer History (PBS), and many more.
Carla is passionate about scoring projects that are about minorities, especially stories about women, immigrants, and the LGBTQ community!
Carla’s music is vibrant, ethereal, sometimes haunting, and so often mesmerizing.
